NOTE: Gravel Guard shown on image is not included.. You can make your own using a 160mm pipe and cutting slits into it. Reason for not supplying is to keep shipment costs low
A siphon is the heart of a flood and drain Aquaponics system.
The most common siphon in Aquaponics systems up to now has been the Bell Siphon. Mechanical siphons like the Bell Siphon and now the VFS (Vertical Float Siphon) do not require any electrical sensors or other electrical parts to operate.
Though a bell siphon works well once the system water inflow and other tweaks are applied, for the amateur they become a centre of frustration. Sometimes it will start, and sometimes it won't stop.. it is a very temperemental gadget if its design is not mechanically sound.
Myaquaponics has thus come up with the VFS siphon, which outperforms the bell siphon, and almost never fails to flood and drain the grow bed if properly installed.
It is available in the following drain pipe sizes:
We have made the length of the downpipe, inclusive of float, 200mm, which determines the water level in the plant grow bed.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT GLUE TO THE PIPE when we supply the unit, to allow you to cut the pipe if you need a lower water level. If you do cut the pipe, do so after installation, then glue the float section to the pipe with PVC glue.
The VFS is supplied with the following components:
We can make any size subject to quote and lead times
